VHHA wins 2020 Award

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) took an important step this year on its journey toward implementing the Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework by winning the 2020 SPQA Progress in Performance Excellence Award. VHHA began its work with SPQA in 2018 and was recognized for completing the Self Discovery process during the 2019 award cycle before submitting its first full application earlier this year. In accepting the award, President & CEO Sean T. Connaughton said “Working with SPQA to implement the Baldrige Framework has played a vital role in helping VHHA improve its member-focused efforts to make Virginia the healthiest state in the nation. As our members’ needs evolve, the SPQA process enables us to develop, implement, and standardize new processes, procedures, and programs that help us improve how we deliver value to our members. We look forward to continuing this journey in the future.” VHHA is a 501(c)(6) trade association that works with Virginia hospitals and health systems to improve the health of all Virginians. VHHA is focused on advocating for effective health care policy that promotes the sustainability of our health care system and working with its members to improve health care affordability, safety, quality, and outcomes. Matt Strader, who leads VHHA’s Baldrige work, said “At VHHA we strive to deliver services to our members with the same commitment to performance excellence that they demonstrate in their daily interactions with the patients and communities they serve. Through implementation of the framework and the dedication of the entire VHHA team, we are making significant progress toward that goal.”
