Established in 1987, the Baldrige Program is credited with making quality and performance excellence a national priority. Administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Program and Award recipients are admired worldwide. Many states and countries have programs modeled after Baldrige. The Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework is widely used as an assessment and improvement tool. The site provides information on how to apply for an award along with useful assessment and planning tools for organizations interested in improving performance.
More than 1,000 articles and videos about organizational improvement and performance excellence across all industries are available as a resource. The Alliance for Performance Excellence and the American Society for Quality compiled these materials, which cover more than 18 topics as using Baldrige, ISO, Lean, and Six Sigma using the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, leadership, training, process management, results, and more.
This network of state and local Baldrige based organizations promotes performance excellence and often serves as a starting point for organizations seeking the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. These organizations offer workshops, seminars, and conferences where one can learn, share, and connect with other organizations seeking performance excellence. These programs also administer award and assessment programs using trained examiner teams and judges.
ASQ has been the leading membership based quality improvement organization in the U.S. for more than 50 years. Its members have initiated most of the quality methods used throughout the world, including statistical process control, quality cost measurement and control, total quality management, failure analysis, and zero defects. The site offers considerable information on state of the art best practices in performance measurement, Six Sigma, and many other process improvement approaches.
