In the 2024, Pathways to Excellence Award Cycle, VHHA is recognized due to its unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare quality, enhancing patient safety, and fostering collaborative partnerships across the healthcare sector in Virginia. The SPQA program, modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, promotes organizational excellence and continuous improvement across various industries. The Achievement in Performance Excellence Award specifically recognizes organizations that have made significant strides in implementing quality management principles, fostering a culture of innovation, and achieving measurable results that benefit their stakeholders.

Founded in 1926, the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA) is the largest healthcare association in Virginia and holds significant influence within the state. It is a membership organization with 26 member health systems, representing 111 community, psychiatric, rehabilitation, and specialty hospitals throughout Virginia.

VHHA is a non-profit trade association that supports its members in numerous realms. VHHA has two related organizations: the Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation (VHHA Foundation) and the Virginia Hospital Shared Services Corporation (VHHA Solutions).

The VHHA Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to provide educational programming and support various public health initiatives within Virginia. VHHA Solutions is a for-profit entity that helps Virginia’s hospitals and health systems identify vendors that can assist their operations.

Combined, VHHA and its related organizations promote collaboration, drive continuous improvement, and enhance the healthcare delivery system for all Virginians.
